A Tale of Two Kitchens
From Nanny Wendy's original copper pans to a new family chapter. Three generations crafting the finest Cornish fudge in Bude.
Meet the Fudgeteers
Originally from Berkshire, the Phelan family moved to Bude in 2023. As the shop purchase was being finalised, our son and his family moved down just in time to be handed the keys, followed closely by our daughter. Now, we are a true family-run business.

I handle all the behind-the-scenes magic. Supported by my wonderful husband, I keep the business running smoothly.

Where the story began
In a world of mass-produced sweets, true craftsmanship takes time. Nanny Wendy's Fudge Kitchen began with a singular, uncompromising vision: to preserve the dying art of traditional confectionery.
We don't use industrial mixers; every batch is painstakingly hand-stirred in copper kettles for three hours to achieve our signature flawlessly fudgy, melt-in-your-mouth texture.
Sourced from single-origin cocoa and local dairy, our fudge isn't just a treat—it's a return to authentic, purposeful indulgence. When the family took over, the only instruction was to never compromise this generational wisdom and to keep crafting with love, care, and passion.
Sustainably Sourced, Ethically Wrapped
Local First
We source our dairy straight from Cornish farms. Highlighting local agriculture means fresher ingredients and a lower carbon footprint.
Eco-Packaging
Our beautiful teal boxes are fully recyclable, and the wrappers we use to keep the fudge fresh are 100% biodegradable cellulose.
No Nasties
You'll find no artificial preservatives or palm oil in our recipes. Just authentic, wholesome ingredients made the traditional way.
